Internet Safety Lessons
We hope you had a fabulous summer break and are ready to have an exciting year of learning!
In an effort to make our students more aware of the potential threats online and to ensure their safety in the extensive world of cyberspace (in addition to meeting a requirement set forth by August 29th), we are beginning the school year with Internet Safety Lessons.
About Internet Safety Lessons:
We hope you had a fabulous summer break and are ready to have an exciting year of learning!
In an effort to make our students more aware of the potential threats online and to ensure their safety in the extensive world of cyberspace (in addition to meeting a requirement set forth by August 29th), we are beginning the school year with Internet Safety Lessons.
About Internet Safety Lessons:
- They are grade level specific and will be taught at the beginning of every school year.
- Included is a lesson packet that includes all online resources, handouts, video hot links and web site passwords.
- Elementary instruction is for 2 to 3 days of 30-minute lessons; whole group presentation using online resources that are available.
- Middle schools lessons are 2 days of 52 minutes presented in social studies classrooms.
- Teachers will need to use their projectors, doc cameras and basic classroom supplies.
- MS Social Studies teachers should present these the first week of school. It was recommended by the teachers in the committee that 3rd through 5th grade classroom teachers should follow this same timeline. K-2 teachers are given the first 3 weeks of school to meet the developmental learning needs of their students.
- All students should be provided this information before using computers for learning and projects.
- Principals are to return a signature page to Ed Technology by the end of the month indicating that all teachers have completed the instruction as written.
- Lessons and the Online Survey must be completed by August 29th
- You will need BrainPop or BrainPop Jr. for many of these lessons. See your password sheet for the BrainPop Username and Passwords.
